What do we all think we as the Union should realistically accept to end this impasse

In an ideal world it would be inflation based pay rise and no strings. Let's be realistic it will never happen. I believe most people are more concerned about the changes they are about to force than pay rise. Still 2% is just pathetic offer.

At the end of the day, Royal Mail makes a profit ( over £700M this year ), the company CAN afford to pay us a decent pay rise. The RM board can choose where to spend that profit, it can spend it on the people who earned it for RM or it can give it away to shareholders & directors bonus payments - Its a choice !

And before anyone says it was GLS who made most of the profit - GLS is owned by RM, not the other way around. GLS is not constrained by the USO & regulator , it can cherry pick what it want to deliver etc. Amazon is a prime example where a company has a loss making arm ( Amazon marketplace / shopping /PRIME delivery/TV etc ). Amazon makes profit from its DATA storage, hosting & selling mined data.

Company cross subsidies are a NORMAL part of business for multinationals like RM.

They CAN afford it, they just don't want to.

Lets see if we can change their minds.

All we want is a reasonable wage rise & to keep out present T&C's.

Hmm.
Inflation no strings feels like a bit of a pipedream, but it would be my choice.
Significant ACAS mediation and things alike, to mitigate some of the insanity they want (Like the insane later starts, lower pay for newbies etc) would be more of an acceptable compromise, but a mediator has a habit of choosing the middle ground and I honestly think that would just mean each year they close half the gap on what they want. So 8% this year, minor strings, success, but next year it'd be less, the year after, less, slightly more strings... I suspect this is how it will end up anyway, but I would prefer the job to go to *absolute* s**t over 10 years rather than 5 or less.

Not voting in this poll, right now, I might vote later if I'm persuaded on a specific option.

And then it started. The total and utter disdain for the workforce after these past 2 years of blood, sweat and tears.

9% no strings now.

I don't mind a few strings as long as we are benefiting in real terms, so 2 year deal. Another 5% on top of the 2% without strings and backdated to 1st April 2022. plus another 4% if we agree to strings which help the business, this extra 4% should pay for itself and the total would give us a pay rise to match the cost of living increase.
From 1st of April 2023 RPI minus 1% without strings, plus another 2% if we can find more ways of working more efficiently, which I'm sure we could.

I agree. Now people will demand more. We have also seen many other companies getting upwards of 8% pay rises. I know someone in a low skilled job who got a 20% pay rise.

A few months ago I would have been happy with the same rise as the National Living Wage increase, which was 6.6%. Now I'd like to see at least a 9% no strings increase.

They should just offer the inflation matching pay rise now so we can move on. Avoid the strikes.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the union accepted around 9% over 2 years with a lump sum,but on condition we agree to the later start times and Sunday working. Might negotiate the annualised hours a little so we get paid overtime and are not expected to stay out and complete regardless of workload . I agree Thompson is basically looking after the shareholders and directors before the hardworking staff that make the profits.
