Yearly statements question?

Hello I joined Royal Mail in 1990 and joined the pension asap , I only get one pension statement a year from Royal Mail the one with the squirrel , I’ve looked at the video for our pension and it says that I should possibly get a statement from Capita ?
As the look after some of my pension which built up before 2012 ? I think?
Question is should I have been receiving these statements ? If so how do I contact Capita to get them , many thanks for any help on this topic, I’m now trying to work out the whole pension which is what I find very difficult for some reason.

Yes, you should get two separate statements late each year.....around September I think. It's been the same for a few years now.

Capita are responsible for administering RM pensions up to 31st March 2012, that element is known as the RM Statutory Pension Scheme, and they should be sending you a statement each year. With the RM Pension Plan(the squirrel) being from 2012 onwards.

We started getting a separate statement from both RMSPS and RMPP in 2020. All pension info was previously on one statement from the RMPP.

The RMSPS have a website which has lots of info on, including contact details.
You can also sign up to its 'pension portal', which shows you your total RMSPS benefits via the 'retirement illustrator', although the figures are not separated into NRA60 & NRA65 amounts!

Plus it has a 'my mailbox' from which you might be able to download one or both of the RMSPS statements you're missing.
*I can only access my 2020 statement for some reason.

Thank you I have been on the site as you have advised and seen my forecast which is okish another quick question I’ve an AVC which Royal Mail pay a small amount each week as well as myself, just wondering if it would be possible and a good idea to increase the contributions and how to go about it ? Or get another one if possible ? Many thanks for your help regarding this over complicated system.

It sounds like you're paying into Bonusplan.

You can't pay any more into that particular scheme as the contributions are fixed. But it is possible to start another AVC called Flexiplan and you can pay as much as you want into that, within certain limits. But that doesn't attract any extra cash from RM.

But like all RM pension payments, AVC's get the benefit of both tax relief and salary sacrifice(PSE).

But bear in mind that when the new CDC(RMCPP) scheme starts, no more contributions will be allowed into the current AVC's. Instead 2 new arrangements will start up specifically attached to the new scheme. Info here(scroll down to the faq's): https://www.myroyalmail.com/collective-plan
