Employees and management of the Polish Post meet tomorrow over a pay dispute, with a threat of a national strike hanging over the talks.

Post office employees want a 700-zloty gross pay hike. The management proposed 300 zloty.

The spokesperson for the Polish Post said that the company can offer no more for fear of losing liquidity.

On Friday, the parties will start negotiations with the help of a mediator. According to Radio Opole, if a compromise is not reached, almost 90 percent of employees are threatening to strike.

The Polish Post employs almost 100,000 workers, 70 percent of which, according to the data of the management, earn below 2,400 zloty gross (680 euro).

This is yet another professional group in Poland that has started to demand pay rises, after doctors, nurses, miners, teachers, customs officers and railway workers.

It depends where you are - in our area and i think Liverpool and London, and possibly Bristol I heard that when Polish Casuals heard what was going on they refused to cross the picket line.

the polish at are place didnt cross the picket lines, but after this refusal we never saw them again, no doubt RM told the agency that they wanted spineless strike breakers not people with a sense of decencey and honour!!!

I heartily congratulate all the Polish workers that did not cross picket line, however from my own personal experience and others that were on the picket line, some Polish workers did cross the picket line, not just once but night after night, despite pleas for them not to. I am not trying to denigrate Polish workers as a whole just the ones that chose to ignore a lawful strike and by their actions undermined the fight to gain better working conditions for the workforce.
