Yes, just like if it falls on Christmas day too. It's another great thing the Cwu have let go.

It's not a recent thing. It's been happening for as long as I can remember. You'll only get your day back if it falls on a bank holiday whereas xmas and new years are non service days. I've been caught out a couple of times.

Details in the 'global announcement'!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If your long weekend includes the Monday you will get that day back, as its the official Bank Holiday day rather than the Saturday which is classed as a non service day.

Doesn't change the fact that he's working Monday to Friday this week while others are working four for the same pay.

Why is the union not doing anything about this? I work in a delivery office on permanent late,s (Mon - Fri) , and have done for the last 20 years,. The delivery staff all had their days off during the week, so only worked a 4 day week, and the same will happen again next week for a lot of them, (i.e if their day off was Thursday last week, it will be Friday this week) this equates to 2 extra days holiday for a lot of them, (office of 200). I spoke to our area union rep about this and his reply was that,s just the way it is when x-mass day /new years day falls on a Saturday, i pointed out that the eves(x-mass and new years are treated as Saturdays in our office collections wise, so why then do we have to come in and work as we dont work on Saturdays. He had no reply to this other than to suggest i bring it up on the workplace app with Simon, or bring it up at the union AGM. As far as i can see this is discrimination as you are giving something to one group of employees that you are not to others, and the Union should be all over this. I have been a member of the Union for 33 years now, but i am seriously thinking of cancelling my subs.
