Royal Mail to double home delivery PCR tests

People can do a Covid test at home or at a testing site
There's been a run on PCR tests recently, with the rising number of Omicron cases in the UK.

And now, the distribution of home PCR tests is going to be more than doubled from tomorrow, says Dr Jenny Harries from the UK Health Security Agency.

She says Royal Mail has been brilliant during the pandemic and they will "allow us to more than double our delivery capacity from Friday from 400,000 home delivered to 900,000".

There are other discussions going on too to increase capacity further says Dr Harries, who was talking to MPs on the transport select committee when she made the announcement.

She says that in London, test sites are seeing a very sudden rise and are quite full, and that mobile testing units have been brought in. She says there are enough tests, but there has been a sudden increase in pressure.

She adds that between 6am and 8am this morning, 200,000 lateral flow packs were ordered.

Alliance pharmacies have had 6.4million tests sent to them to distribute in the community, where people need them.

She says it's “quite a challenge to keep stocks flowing”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

PCR KITS FOR DELIVERY: IMMEDIATE POLYBAG COLOUR CHANGE

A temporary change in PCR polybag colour has had to be implemented today due to volumes being processed by Paragon. Please share this with your teams asap.

Message is:
Polybags for PCR kits to home addresses will start to come through in grey bags, as well as purple bags, from today (Sunday 19th December).
There is NO change to elective care polybags which continue to be red.
We expect this to be in place until the middle of January

A brief has just been released to the operation to support this and will be available via your line manager

don't know about double. At my office we usually scan in 300-400 - today it was over 1500.

Same addresses getting 3 or more covid kits daily. They can't possibly need that many. All of them bog roll and pasta hoarders .

Not my customers.
No kids, perhaps an employer.. but 7 test per kit. I don't think so.
