Hi
I have just finished my isolation for 10 days after having covid and due back to work today.
I phoned up asking about a phase return but manager said no and to get a Doctors note. Not sure how it’s possible to go straight into a full duty ?
Is Covid still not triggering attendance reviews if it’s your first time off with it (not including isolation ping)
Thanks

Re: Return to work
You need proof that you caught covid/was pinged to isolate.
There is no stage warnings for either isolating or getting it...
LTB 127/20 - SICK ABSENCE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS - COVID 19 : Royal Mail "Vast majority of coronavirus absences to be discounted from the normal attendance procedure"
If you have had Covid, and feel well enough then yes, you go straight back to work.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Return to work
They will expect you to do a full duty so the best advice is to go back when you’re ready

Re: Return to work
If you test positive from a PCR test then this will be put down as coronavirus reasons for absence. Not too sure if its changed now and recorded sick, would be surprised if this is the case.
If you have symptoms now and then test , which is negative this gets recorded as cold like symptoms so will be treated as sick now.

People will just turn up for work with symptoms of Covid,p not knowing if positive, then pass it on to their work colleagues.
What a caring company we work for!

So RM are over ruling Government Guidelines?

Re: Return to work
It does and it doesn't, it will go on your sick record per se and you get paid, but it would not go against you for a stage warning as per the bits in this thread and part of the forum.
Remember if you are pinged and HAVE TO ISOLATE, you have to isolate and the business can't do anything about it as per Government guidelines.

Trying to find out exactly what would happen in this situation. If you have symptoms now and then test , which is negative this gets recorded as cold like symptoms so will be treated as sick now.
No doubt loads of peeps would think it's Covid then it's not, would we get busted for it?

Re: Return to work
Thank you for your enquiry.
Anyone with coronavirus symptoms (irrespective of vaccination status) should self-isolate immediately and arrange to take a PCR test. They must self-isolate at least until the test results are received. The absence should be recorded as sick – coronavirus symptoms and normal sick pay rules apply. If the test results are negative then the coronavirus absence will be ended at this point. An employee will return to work if they feel well enough to do so or they will remain absent if they continue to feel unwell and the continued absence will be recorded as a non-coronavirus related absence. In line with our normal approach any coronavirus symptoms absences are normally discounted from the Attendance Procedure unless an individual has previously been informed that absences may be counted.
If you require any further advice, please come back to us.
Kind Regards,
Helen Murray
