MRM.COM : The humble 'Something for you' P739 and P739w gets a spring makeover
https://www.myroyalmail.com/news/2021/0 ... ng-new-you
It’s spring again – a time for clear outs and new beginnings.
And, this year, the familiar ‘Something for you’ P739 and P739w cards have got in on the act too.
The iconic red and white cards have undergone a few changes and improvements, with new versions set to start landing in delivery offices from this month.
So what’s new?
Well, the design has been given a simpler, cleaner look so that customers can see where their item is more easily.
We’ve reduced the number of sections for colleagues to fill out by hand on the doorstep.
And the redesigned card now has a more prominent section to show when an item is either with a neighbour or in a Safeplace.
As a result, the separate “with your neighbour” (P6721) slips will be phased out – meaning fewer cards to take out on delivery.
Customer Service Point addresses have been made easier to spot, and opening times have been removed from the card – replaced by signposting to our online services to allow for more flexible opening times.
The new design is slightly smaller than the current P739s, but despite its diminutive size, the font size is larger than on the existing card – to make it easier to read.
The card has been tested in a number of delivery offices, including Pulborough delivery office where Karen Burch (pictured), a postwoman, said: ‘I like that the new card is simpler to complete than the old card, it saves time on the doorstep.’
Look out for yours – landing as stocks of the old cards run down.
To avoid waste, we are asking colleagues to continue using the current P739s and “with your neighbour” designs until stocks are depleted
From this month onwards, all P739s orders will be fulfilled with the new design.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No opening times on card
.What about all the customers with no internet connection ? .The change in opening times during the pandemic have been chaos.

In my experience most people ignore the times on the card anyway and just show up when they want.

I have never used a 'neighbour' card yet, I just use a normal 739 and tell them it's with a neighbour on that.

Old card good- New card crap, it would be OK if we had a convenient desk to lean on when writing it out instead of having to keep shuffling the card along in your hands. Idiots.

Anyone know why they removed the reason section from the new P739 card?

What annoys me most about the new cards - apart from being more flimsy - is that I find myself flipping them over more often to complete date/time/location when delivering to neighbour. Yes I know you would have to do this with the old card, but only to complete number of items, which if delivering to neighbour I wouldn't have bothered with. I know...naughty boy! Now, you have to flip it, unless you don't fill in date or time.
Why can't they design a card with all the details that you need to fill in on one side!
And we don't have the deliver to neighbour cards anymore...
