A MAN was detained under the Mental Health Act after an incident at Newton Abbot's mail sorting office on Saturday.

Police confirm the incident happened around 6.30am when they were called to the Royal Mail office on Forde Road.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said later: "We are fully co-operating with police over this matter." But she said she was unable to confirm whether the man was a member of staff.
