A colleague of mine is lookin for some advice concerning driving his own vehicle .
The Background

He delivers to a village which is 10 mls away from base .So he really does need to take his car .
There are 2 posties who deliver there The 1st guy is a 5am start & my mate starts at 6am .
The 5am guy has a van because he has rural part ,he is also meant to take the bags out for my mate .But due the wisdom of the eejit management the 5am guy is away an hour before my mate so in consequence he's never ready for the bags to go .
My mate takes his own 1st bag in his car & leaves his others for a manager to take oot .This has worked for the last few wks,but the latest from the Screws is they have told my mate they have changed the insurrance for private vehicles from travelling to the 1st point with one bag >they are now saying the insurrance has changed so he can now take all his bags as the company insurrance has now been extended to cover all his route .
Needless to say my mate has stuck to his guns ,but now they are threatening him with gross misconduct .

Any ideas guys --I get the feeling this is more company bullShiT -anyone heard if the screws have changed the goal posts ???
I've told him to fill in a B&H form ,but he's a wee bit wary.
I need some confirmation

Your mate must be an idiot. Do RM refund his petrol money, wear and tear on his car etc. etc. It's up to the manager to get him and his bags to and from the walk. end of.

if they are forcing him to use his private car then surely he can claim the relevant allowance. When he next sees the DOM perhaps he ought to ask what the mileage allowance is.

If you really need to use your car then the duty should have a van or moped. End of story

And mr n.t how was it done in years gone by ? when mail arrived at the doorsteps before breakfast time ? yes ...you got it they used vans to accelerate the posties out and bring them back not hard is it ...as has been said many times before 'do the job properly' the onus is on them to provide you transport there and back

I don't drive, other than for shopping at the weekends but posties do and will drive, no matter how much we shout about it.

And it is going up $105.1 a barrel at last time i looked at the oil price!.
