Stevenson welcomes return to six-day mail deliveries

NEWS that the Royal Mail is to resume six-day deliveries has been welcomed by a local MSP.

Saturday deliveries, which were suspended during the depths of the lockdown, are set to resume on Saturday, June 13.

The move was announced during a meeting between the Royal Mail and Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Stewart Stevenson.

Hailing the news, Mr Stevenson said: “I very much welcome this commitment from Royal Mail that Saturday deliveries will be restored from June 13 as the country takes the first, careful steps towards returning to coming out of full lockdown.

“During this time, our mail deliveries have been more important than ever to many people who have been working from home or self-isolating, and of course allowing those businesses who can trade by post to carry on safely providing employment.

“I should like to place on record my heartfelt thanks to our postal workers across the north-east who have continued to provide a valued and appreciated service to the communities they serve. The steps taken by postal workers to continue providing a service while keeping themselves and the public safe are to be applauded and I am grateful to them, so too are the public at large.”

They did not admit it was a total failure? I can see it being rolled out again over Christmas.

No disrespect to The Grampian but I wouldn’t get your hopes up that what they have printed is correct. They don’t even say who he met with.

It's Farcical.
I have left them a clear duty but I am off tomorrow.

So I will have 3 days mail to clear on monday.
