LTB 183/19 - CWU/RM National Terms of Reference - Uniform Trial New Polo Shirt Maternity Top

Dear Colleagues,

Further to LTB 692/18, which advised Branches of the National Terms of Reference covering the trial of a New Polo Shirt Maternity Top.

As a result of the agreed review of the trial as set out in the TOR, and based on the positive feedback received from the individuals involved within the trial it can be confirmed that the new maternity top, which is based on the same fabric trialed with the new lighter weight polo shirt (as set out in LTB 182.19), will be adopted by Royal Mail and added to the uniform range in due course.

Whilst this is a positive and welcomed development (as the current maternity top has for some time now been viewed as both unsuitable and unpopular) the new polo shirt maternity top will not however be in stock or available for general order until around July/August this year due to a 4-5 month manufacturing lead in time.

Additionally, it can be confirmed that as part of the ongoing National discussions in regards to uniform, Royal Mail has agreed to review the current maternity trouser and skirt range, but unsurprisingly this will not now happen until after the conclusion of the wider and current Royal Mail Group Uniform Supplier Contract Tendering process (as reported in LTB 063/19).

It is believed that the new Polo Shirt Maternity Top will be welcomed by both Branches and members alike.
