Royal Mail could be a brilliant company if they just had a bit of balls to try new things,, here are a few of my ideas, do away with Recorded sign & bring in tracked for everyone, instead of having to go to callers office to collect parcels use the post offices more like parcelfore I realise we don’t own them anymore but surely this has to be better than what we have at the moment where u have to go miles to get a parcel where some have terrible parking or none at all, with very restricted hours as well more geared around the staff hours than customers, Lockers all the other firms let u collect your parcels some for free, but again RM offer none.

I think eventually every packet will have a 2D barcode, with the address forming part of the barcode number, in theory you could probably get a list of parcels for a walk as they get scanned in

yeah I've never understood why we have signature items if there small enough to fit through the letterbox, just some sort of scan would do

woody you are right how royal mail have gone downhill is just s**t direction from the big overpaid bags of gas at the top. and the ones above don't care either they will just blame those below. have a reshuffle and a big payrise a meal holiday and start again. its a joke but its too late the only way it can get better. is a proper management team buy them out and then you will see what it could have been. another british company ruined bye foreign big wigs

Collection from Post Offices is a good idea in theory, but in practice, it might not work. A Post Office our office delivers to refused to take in Local Collect items we had for pick up there prior to Christmas, as they said they did not have the room to store them! I can't imagine they would routinely entertain 739'd items, which are greater in number. I'm only aware of Amazon having lockers, but bear in mind, it's in their interest to have them, as it helps them sell the products they supply. Royal Mail do not have any goods to market, so there wouldn't be the same incentive to provide lockers that Amazon have.

Totally agree, but we are run by greedy individuals who only look short term, and their short term is managed decline of the service. No positive vision whatsoever, and especially around pay negotiation time to sap morale.

Leaving p739 items at the local post office is standard procedure for my DO, the only exceptions are tracked, specials and signed for items. The post offices should welcome this because it increases footfall for them.

We had a “one plan” audit a few weeks ago with some top managers coming down to see how efficiently our office is run. Of course our DOM was warned in advance, so everyone was told they must follow this one plan idea, wear your hi-vis, follow h&s etc... it actually went smoother than normal with everyone getting out at the same time and finishing on time. However, the next day it was business as usual, part time walks not getting prepped, people cutting corners, skiving off the IPS, loading their vans via a back door fire exit, desperate to knock an hour or so off their duty. So as far as those at the top know, we’re all following their one plan idea but for some reason it’s not working. Hmmm, I wonder why.
