The increase in pension contributions for those affected by auto-enrolment, is actually from 3% to 5%.

That will be negated to some degree with the personal tax allowance increasing from £11,850 to £12,500. RM employees should also have the £120 uniform cleaning allowance on top.

Yes! That was because full time hours were reduced from 39 to 38.
It had nothing to do with pension payments, income tax or April's 2% rise, which everyone will get.

CPI is around 2.5%.
It's a pay cut in real terms.

This was voted for by the membership, which included the pay rise and reduction in hours, so it's a chance we took on inflation. This is the last part of the deal so from this increase in April, I'm sure our union will be starting negotiations on a new deal with Mr Black.

Who is this Mr Black ? Full time employees in Scotland may also be affected by a new intermediate tax band of 21% which kicks in on earnings over £24 999 in the 2019/20 tax year. It may be prudent to consider some (extra) AVC payments into our pensions to help offset this additional tax burden ???
