If I decide to work my rest day, how does the pay go through? Does the DOM put it through as overtime?

If you work your day off you should get the duty hours for that day on overtime rate which works out about 5% less than you would usually get paid.

I simply wanted to point out that the overtime rate is not less than you usually get paid.

Dependent on where in the UK you work as a postie you will get various additional supplements eg the driving one, the one where RM has difficulty employing staff etc. As a general rule if you add the supplements to the basic pay and divide by the hours worked the overtime rate will be less than the total pay you usually receive per hour.
At one time in most workplaces overtime was set at 1.5 times basic pay. Nowadays this is no longer the case in most jobs.

You are correct but i see it differently.
My o/t up to 38hr (includes contracted hours) is £12.05
38- 48hr is £11.49
above 48hr is £11.13

I understand the supplement issues but i just see it as i were to work more than 38hr i'd be dropping my per hour rate. Unless i can get upto my £12.05 rate why would i?

I work my rest days when my children are in school and my husband is in work!!!
