On deliverey? Say another 80 added what impact on jobs on collections?.

pretty bad I would've thought. but I think that is their plan, to put the lot onto deliveries and eventually do away with collections altogether.

To be fair what is the sense in collecting from boxes that we pass every day on delivery or paying for late packet delivery when collection staff can deliver them.

Eventually,most collection jobs will go,the remaining collection jobs will clear the post offices,the larger business collections,and late packet deliveries

This is where we are heading. It will save RM some money so I suppose it isn't all bad. Offices need to look to securing some of the LAT work locally now rather than posties coming from maybe twenty or more miles away to do it. Initially there isn't going to be much to do but if it does increase in capacity then it could compensate the hours lost from most of the collections going.

Another thing is that most of the collection drivers in this area work from a mail centre so can't just pick up a delivery to fill any work they may lose. What will happen to them?

Probably get transferred to processing, so slightly reducing the reliance on casuals/agency

RM still seem to be highly resistant to increasing capacity so we could take on more business. Larger vans, larger premises, and more staff would be the logical option but they seem to just want to get it done on the cheap.

I don't think we've even got the staff needed for the existing work let alone taking new work on!

well I see they've announced some new packet delivery jobs in D.Os from next week 15.30-19.30
