Correct amount of overtime for part timers?

Hey guys,

I’m on a 25 hour contract, and generally start at 07:30. What is the correct amount of overtime I should be signing for on a 07:30 start? Would it be 1.30hrs each day? Or does it change with the start time, so:

(08:50 start) 1:20 Mon & Tues
(09:20 start) 1:50 Weds, Thurs & Fri
(09:08 start) 1:38 Sat

It seems to have changed throughout the past 6 months I've been at Royal Mail, so some clarity would be great!

add it from 730.. to what ever time part timer start , so say 7.30 to 9.02 = 1.32

im not sure on what OT to put down say if on 5.5 hours day u can come back 20 mins early for break and finish but say you go over by 2 hours so you end up doing 7.5 , what can you claim for break

Our office full time start at 6:30am. If you're a part timer whose day begins at 8:30am and you've accepted to come in at 6:30am on overtime, then you'll claim 2 hrs. TIme wise it all depends on the office, but generally you'll claim from the time you start overtime to your normal start time.

It doesn't matter if you are full time or part time. If you are asked to go in early on overtime, how many hours early are you going in? If your start time is 9:00 and you go in at 7:30, then that's 1.5 hrs overtime. If your start time is 8:00 and you go in at 7:00 then that's one hour overtime.

If your finish time is 3:00 and you finish at 3:30 (having had your break) then add half an hour overtime to what you claimed in the morning.

Thanks for the responses, guys. That's what I was thinking.

07:30 - 08:50 on Mon & Tues = 1hr 20.
07:30 - 09:20 on Weds, Thurs & Fri = 1hr 50.
07:30 - 09:08 on Sat = 1hr 38.

I'll just have to keep an eye on it, because they never seem to pay the right amount.

We can't claim breaks at the end of the day anymore, we HAVE to take the full 40 minutes in the morning.

If they don't pay you the right amount then don't work over.

if cant claim 20mins on full time at end of day , what is part time 5.30 contract break meant to be taken

Simply make sure the hours paid on your wage slip match the hours actually worked. If they do, you’re fine.
