Could anyone give me an answer on ghosting hours. Managers willing to pay you for going over your contracted hours but working to time, but willing to pay someone else for taking a part of other walks and still get back on their duty time and nothing said.

You'd do know that RM troll this site. I am stunned sometimes by the posts that f..k things up for other people. Of course RM know that this goes on but they can suss out(mostly) which areas your are working by building up statements about certain things going on in certain offices/apcs. They are not stupid.

I don't work over...I don't do overtime....my choice.
we now work to our time...if back early your sent back out with anything that's been left in.
BUT
lads are taking loops on overtime and finishing early and are not being sent out with left overs because there "helping out"
today a line manger was out "on overtime" an hour before the finishing time...
it happens all over like benson says u either get on it or like me lump it
funny bit is were on the pda actuals trials as well

It is a difficult topic because of the fluctuations in mail volume. In theory you should have enough work to take you to your time but this isn't always so. Nobody wants to wait around before they start their overtime so ghosting can occur at the end of a shift. Also, if you take your overtime with you you can start a delivery nearby instead of a long journey back to the office, even if you would have finished on time.
Generally avoid ghosting if you can but don't be silly about it either way.

They should be made to lapse up until their finishing time like everyone else .

it's an agreed payment between the dom and postie for extra work done after completing their own duty, so not fraud.Creditshampoo wrote:Please explain how it is not fraud. Thanks.number one wrote:It’s not fraud at all!TheBushBaby wrote:Fraud hours plain and simple !
it only gets my back up when they don't have to take lapsing like others
basically if you agree to an hour or 2's work after you can negotiate a payment knowing he wants it gone no matter what,
but as they're doing dom a great favour, they get less work to do during the regular shift, oh, they don't want households putting in either or not doing it!

It would only be fraud if you got paid to do the work and didn’t do it. If you agree to do work for a set payment it’s not fraud it matters not if you do it in your contracted hours.Creditshampoo wrote:Please explain how it is not fraud. It isn't fraud unless you try to hide the fact you have finished your duty. Your contract is for X hours work, not the job so finishing early and then getting paid for extra isn't right. However, getting back 30mins early isn't really enought time to do much work - especially if you 'pouch off' properly - so there is little point in a manager not permitting you to start your overtime (and you may say no thanks next time).
Offices without a bit of give and take must be constant stress. :(
P.S. we had one bloke try to cut off so he could do his overtime on another job! :)

I think it's a case of 'goodwill' and working as a team to get all the mail in the office delivered. I realise posties are getting paid more money to do overtime but you are not obligated to do overtime if don't want to or can't due to home stuff. The DOM is short of staff for whatever reason and asks for volunteers to do more work. Posties offer to help after they have finished their own duties. This job is different in that we tend to get the initial amount of work into the office and once that is completed there is no more til the next day. So you offer to do overtime but your own walk will take a variable time to complete. Certain days are expected to be quiet or busy but it can easily switch around due to bulk mailouts or other circumstances. So I feel if there is a bit of runover between the end of your duty and doing overtime RM can't really say anything. If you're doing something devious then yeah it's out of order but generally it's out of our control.

Given that the national agreement talks of utilising all paid hours, I am not sure that the DOM has the authority to authorise ghost overtime.world class male wrote: it's an agreed payment between the dom and postie for extra work done after completing their own duty, so not fraud.
And certainly not just for his favourites.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
