6 &12 months pay increase

Post by G051238 »

Im looking for some advice please. I started with Royal Mail in May 2017 as a postie. My starting hourly rate was £9.51. I was told in the interview and on the application form that after 6 months my hourly rate would increase to £10.09 an hour this should've happened in November 2017. After 1 year I would receive £10.57 an hour. After working for the company for 11 months I'm still receiving £9.51 an hour. My managers aren't being very helpful when I've brought up the subject. Is this information about 6 & 12 months pay increase correct? If so why haven't I received it? And who should I contact about fixing it?
Thanks

6 &12 months pay increase

This is an email response sent to me from the cwu, Network, a year ago. So it depends if you are in letters or network logistics, unless it was changed since the agreement in the pay discussions.

In relation to your enquiry it is correct that Network OPG’s do not receive a 6 month increase in pay and that they progress from recruit to max rate after 1 year, subject to successful completion of their trial period. For information purposes I have attached a copy of the Pay Rate Guide – CWU Represented Grades in Royal Mail Logistics (Guide for Employees) in which it states:

"New employees will progress to the maximum of the grade after one year's service, but not before age 18, subject to the completion of their trial period and the acquisition of the relevant skills and competentcies, and in all cases after more than two years' service but not before age 18."

The arrangements differ from RM Letters OPG’s who do receive the 6 month increment. Historically however prior to the BT2010 agreement Logistics pay and T&C’s were subject to separate negotiations that resulted in them receiving a slightly different rate of pay, which is still the case today. For information Logistics OPG’s currently receive a recruit rate which is 98p per week higher that than RML OPG’s, this increases to £1.09 differential per week when they attain the max pay rate.

I can also inform you that the difference in the Logistics transition from recruit to max rate is an issue that the department may be seeking to address during the National pay discussions.

I hope that this has been of assistance and has provided you with the clarification required.

EDIT; Guide states contact your manager - Managers can obtain advice by calling HR services Advice Centre on 0845 6060603 / 54567100 . I would call them yourself
