Joint statement confirming the above , no detail until after the PEC meeting next Tuesday and Weds.

Four days to read and digest the agreement?
Must be a long read.

I think the union could move a little quicker than a glacier dingo.

So it will be next Thursday before we see the Negotiators Agreement. 1st of feb.

. Vote on it by end of feb.

They will have to convince/brainwash the local and area reps into believing it's a good deal. Will take time to do hence the delay. Sounds like they will have to convince themselves first though. Can't wait for the ****storm to hit on this one.

How do you stay that positive?
It's a provisional agreement between two parties.
It's not a list for Santa. There will be stuff we don't like.

Every National Agreement is subject to a vote of the Postal executive , this has happened on every National Agreement. The Postal executive can amend the agreement and than the National Officers will have to go back into negotiations to try and achieve those amemenemts , the Postal executive could reject or accept the agreement.

Once the Postal Executive have voted to accept the agreement and recommend it to the members it is than it will be subject to wider consultation.

First will be a two day meeting of the Div Reps , than a National Briefing and that 9 Divisional meetings where the unit reps will be in attendance.

During this time Divisions and Branch’s will decide where they will be recommending the agreement to their members or recommending rejection.

In addition there will loads of gate meetings to discuss the merits or otherwise of the agreement to the members.

The members will than have the final say in a vote.

There will be nothing to hide but this is the process which things will take.

I really don't like to feel so negative about the results of the talks. I realise that it obviously can't go all our way and that there has to be give and take on both sides. But don't you feel that RM has pushed us to breaking point and we cannot really go much further in the downsizing exercise they promote. Outside observers generally say RM as a business is in a fairly good position but RM continue to paint a bad picture while at same time paying out relatively large dividends to shareholders.

There was a article in the Financial Times the other day on privatisation generally and the water companies in particular that is really sobering reading. It can be read on the internet. The water companies have driven up billions of pounds of debt while at same time paying out really large dividends. Ring any bells !!?? I would in theory be in support of the Labour party being voted back in so renationalisation could occur except that the Labour party are utterly incompetent. That's not to say that the Conservatives are much better either of course. Consensus seems to that the privatisation of everything has been bad for the UK. Other countries such as France haven't allowed it to happen and where they have they have applied rules to keep some order. Maybe we might get some reversal of the privatisation regime without Corbyn.

So you’d prefer they speed-read it, issue a hasty recommendation, just so that in a few weeks’ time you can level the accusation ‘didn’t these inept people actually READ what we were asked to vote on?’ ???

It must mean that the CWU guy in charge of tweeting supports Man United. Apparently they are going up against a small team from Yeovil tonight in the FA cup not that I am interested in football. Would be funny to see 'the beautiful one' get really upset if Yeovil beat them though. All the toys would be thrown out of the pram then. The MU manager is one of the more dislikeable people on this planet.
