DRAW THE LINE AND MOVE ON

Post by lovejoy »

The vote has now been taken and whatever any of us think a YES vote of 64% has been cast.

There is no point going over old ground and we MUST now move on together!

VOTE WAS RIGGED
The vote wasn't rigged. ALL unions use POLARIS and the company must follow strict laws! We may not like the result but it is not rigged

LETS RESIGN FROM CWU
Yeah really clever. Now is the time more than ever that we need to stick together. There will be DOMs, Line managers etc pushing the barriers in the coming weeks in certain offices. THIS HAPPENS NOW!! Just look how some offices have big SA xmas agreements whilst other are left with nothing! Resigning from the CWU will achieve nothing. This time of year we have the branch, Area and National elections. If you have a real beef then step forward yourself or vote for those who you think best protect your interests!

40,00 DIDN'T VOTE
Whlst i'll never understand this it happens in every single national union vote. The nurses pay deal had a 22% turnout!! It drives me crazy but we won't change it!

REPS RESIGNING
Like the Way Forward this is a major agreement. Some reps will go and that is their choice. All i will say is this will simply put your office in a weaker than ever position

EVERYTHING HAS TO BE DONE LOCALLY
This is simply not true. In my branch the Area Reps have already drawn up mock flexibility agreements and told local reps not to move outside of the perimators set out. This could be done as a Area wide plan with no problems at all.

THE CWU IS FINISHED
The CWU is only as strong as its members. This vote will not finish this union. We even recovered after a no vote in 2003. If anything the strength of the national strike action will mean that we have grown stronger.

UNITED
Please can we stop sniping at each other? This achieves nothing. Royal Mail scan this site and will be rubbing their hands at such a split workforce! Some voted yes , some voted no. SO what this is everyones democratic choice!

Now is the time to draw a line in the sand and move forward. We must focus on the key issues. The pensions consultation (make sure you're branch is involving you) and the flexibility plans (reps should put motions to committes calling for area wide agreements - in my opinion)

I hope we can all bring the attacks on each other to a close and focus on the uniting as we move forward :Very Happy

Excellent Post as ever Lovejoy. :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

As a No Voter there is no mileage in slagging off people who either participated in a democratic vote and voted yes, or in asking why people did not vote. What we as NO voters need to do is regroup and look at how we cant get this deal working for us as much as possible.

Look forwards and plan, don't look back and complain - its over we lost lets move on and make the best of the situation.

All well and good preaching the virtues of sticking together so why vote yes seem a cop out if ever there was one. I steadfastly reject all this deal and really do belive that the majority did. As to where the 'no' votes went is something i dare say will be revealed over the comming years. I do find it hard to belive that the yes'es had it as all i heard was 'i'm voting no' seems incredible that this pile of crap is being touted as a reasonable deal i'm deciding if nows the to 'go' had a enough of people who can't or won't make a stand against this shower of sh*t we call our employers. I'm one who really belives this will turn out to be the downfall of many a good postie. as for the rape of our pensions well the jurys still out on that but you can bet your life that it will go the way they want.
Hope the yes voters will hang their head in shame if this turns into to the single bigest mistake our union negotiators ever made

for once i totally disagree with lovejoys comments
how can we get together and defend the union when they have come at us with a deal as rubbish as this one? the majority of branches asked us to reject it and people still harp on as if its a good deal
people leaving the union wont weaken it ... the cwu has done that all by its self
most of the deal was down to local agreement... thats the cwus way of saying to us to just get on with it
stronger offices win weaker ones lose

From what i saw and heard over the past few months, the majority of people were saying 'NO'. From the lads in our office to the lads on RMC, it seemed like a 'No' vote was going to be cast........ but as per usual, like with every other Ballot thats been over the years, you'll get a lot of people saying one thing and doing the complete opposite. Nothing you can do about it, it's happened for years, and will keep on happening. :Boo hoo!

The majority of branches didn't recommend rejection mate. about a 3rd did. The vote shows that a lot (if not all) of thee branches have not pulled off big no votes.

Whether or not it is a good deal is not my point. The membership have spoken and voted. When we had a yes vote for strike i can't recall the members voting no all walking in.

This is because the union is a democratic organisation. The vote has been cast and we must all move in the same direction

time will tell lovejoy but i think its each office to its self from now
from personal experience we have a "difficult manager" and we have had no support from head office at all
local and div reps are great but head office is useless

Shocking, sack ward and co

Post by ohmattyboy »

the cwu have sold us down the river, it's a s**t deal! not only is it a s**t deal, but it has broken the backbone of the cwu. it has forced every office into it's own corner, where it will then pick and choose weak points to attack. other offices will not get involved as they will not have the same issues, which means we are on our own! thanks alot dave ward, you have pulled our pants down and sharfted us with leighton and crozier! i wouldn't be surprised if there were so bungs going around, as the deal still has all the strings mentioned. dave ward and co should be sacked for even putting this deal to a vote. and for all those no voters, whats the point in paying union fees if you dont have a say! just as bad as strike breakers in my book! well we have now been divided, so royal mail will now conquer! the cwu are a bunch of cowards or the bent! :Sick :Sick :Sick :cfo :lfo get out ward and hayes, go and find another union to f**k up you w*****s.

A good post but I wonder what this all says about many of our union members who can't see in front of their own faces.
Bought over by a small lump sum and some back pay just in time for Xmas.
This is not a union sticking together but one falling apart.
More local agreements, gives RM the opportunity to push through all the change they want.
This does not strenghthen the union but weakens it.
Even after the last few months, the headless chickens still run round to finish as quickly as possible. These idiots will never learn, and I wonder if they will think this is a good agreement in a years time.
Not to mention the fact that communication from the union has been absolutely dreadful during this dispute.
Pay rises now dependant on implemented change - ha,ha.
Phoney bonus schemes.
If this is the way forward I don't see it, although I would love to be proved wrong.
I think this leaves a bad taste in most peoples mouths, and a lot wanting to leave the business.
Let's see how genuine they are with regard to the agreement on Saturday start times - already blocked in my office!

whilst i have always respected what you have posted on here lovejoy i cant get my head round the fact that we lost alot of pay due to striking for what exactly?i personally i will be withdrawing from the cwu because i feel let down by the leadership.the deal is crap and i feel that we have been sold out by hayes, ward and most of the pec, royal mail will now feel that they can attack us from all sides and they will get exactly what they want because our union is now spineless.to all the people who voted for this deal i think your barmy and the company you now work for will be totally diffrent in 6 months time!
