The first dispute in which the Internet will play a pivotal roll, Previous disputes have been littered with little or wrong information here we have the news straight from the chief negotiator,
Terry being locked away in negotiations will not be aware that the directors on tour are not having an easy time of it.
One was carded at an office with four pillar posters and went off in a huff.
Others have been asked questions of the commitment to the business and leadership shown by the CEO Moya Greene.

Sounds like rm are just stringing out the talks while getting nowhere , not looking promising .

its good to have a man like Terry in the cwu and telling members as it is after the talks hes been in

, but after listening to this if I was him I would not bother and waste there time with any more talks with rm as there not interested , just push to get all the members on board and go down the IA route and bollocks to them . I think all the staff have heard and had enough now of this company taking the piss.

If talks break down, CWU should call RM's bluff and invite ACAS to arbitrate - see how RM and the media respond to 'independent' neutral talks !

After watching it now seems a ballot is highly likely. I have read re: The Ballot ;

"A simple majority of those voting (not those who are eligible to vote) must say yes for either a strike or alternative industrial action to take place. If a majority says yes to both, it is up to the union to decide which action is appropriate."

Can anyone confirm as today I heard someone quote that a figure of 80% is required !!

Also the turnout has to be 50%

The Trade Union Act 2016

In all industrial action ballots, at least 50% of those entitled to vote must do so and a simple majority must be in favour of action. So, if 100 members are balloted, at least 50 must vote. If 50 vote, at least 26 must vote yes for there to be a valid mandate. If all 100 vote, 51 would need to vote in favour.

Unions will have to include additional information in ballot papers, including a clearer description of the trade dispute and the planned industrial action, so that workers know exactly what they are voting for.
Unions will have to give 14 days’ notice of any industrial action (unless the employer agrees that 7 days’ notice is enough). The current requirement is to give 7 days’ notice.
Currently, industrial action must take place within 4 weeks of the date the ballot closed, unless the union and employer agree to extend it to up to 8 weeks. The Act provides instead that ballot mandates will expire after 6 months (or 9 months if the employer agrees). After this time, the union will need to seek a new ballot for any proposed industrial action.

It's a pity they don't apply these strict criteria to Local & National Elections.... Not to mention important referendums like Brexit!

On the plus side IF you do manage to get a vote for industrial action then surely it would point out to the management that there's very strong support for it amongst the workforce.

We also need to make sure everyone vote in Royal Mail, but I don't know how to make it happens. We need someone to make sure everyone use their vote in every delivery office.

In my area the Branch are holding meetings to push the importance of a massive " YES VOTE " I hope that all Branches do the same
