Quick advice re sick leave

Post by weakerthan »

Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked loads before but could just do with a quick bit of advice.

Been off work since Monday with a sinus infection, kept in contact with my manager who text me half an hour ago to see if I'd be back in tomorrow, let him know that I'm still unwell so no.

Just now the DOM has left an answerphone message asking me to attend a meeting tomorrow morning about what support they can offer me.

No intention of attending as I'm off sick for a reason, but where does he stand requesting this? I've not even been off a week!

Thanks in advance!

I think they are meant to take place within the first month off sick.

as long as you maintain contact he has no right to invite you for a meeting in the first 28 days of being off.

Once again the wording within the attendance agreement is open to question and interpretation. The insertion of the word "BY" in the 28 day review for face to face meetings can be read as somewhere between the 1st day of absence and the 28th day of absence a face to face meeting has to take place. Management are requesting face to face meeting well within this time band as early as 2 to 3 days absence and this was not what this clause within the attendance agreement was intended. This misinterpretation need to be addressed for the avoidance of doubt.
