Change in morning prep.

Hi....since p+l started about 5 years ago they make us ...and we attempt to throw 3 walks in.
yep weds..thur...fri this is obviously harder.
Its a set pattern your walk...your partners and then 1 part time postperson walk.

the last few weeks its been failing even on Tuesdays...so the d.o.m throws together an idea that other offices use " he says"

All full time and any part time on overtime in a morning get the 1st 15mins of duty to throw in mech mail.
then everybody moves to given tasks...ie ips....packet sorting...so on.

the lads that throw in 3 walks still have 3...but some of the mech mail may already be in the frame.....sounds good.
But for some reason and it seems to be the lads who attempt to throw in properly I like to include myself in that are now put on 3 walks that usually you arnt familiar with.

looking around....there is a pattern were several lads seem to stay on there own walks to prep....this week now 4 days gone ive prepped 10 different walks.....head is cabbaged good and proper.
tomorrow I get my own and 2 other walks so im doing 12 different walks this week.....the lad I work with is up to 8 himself.

whats indoor like anywere else....is this common

Nothing like that in my office. The worst is prepping 2 walks, then when you have almost finished one of them, management come up and tell you there has been a change in plan, can you now throw of Z walk instead of the one you have almost finished. We can see through them and their feeble attempts and a quick "So what do you want me to leave behind as I'll be out late" usually does the trick.

Just remember management can have you throwing off as many walks as they want, but, take your break and tell them you're finishing at your finish time.

THIS ... they can ask you to prep 15 deliveries, go out and deliver 6 walks and do 5 hours of IPS in a day, and guess what ? your paid break, start and finish time do not change, yet if you have time to do all that then you do it, its pretty simple.

Yes first 15mins we prep our own. It was for no other reason then to stop the few late every day posties taking the P.

It's triple prepping in ours also, no Ot at all for p/t in the morning. 2 on ips and 1 on packets then they wonder why ppl are booking extended delivery Ot!

1st wave of mech prepped on a designated 'other' frame before you do yours and your partners. If you finish before ips is finished you help them, and vice versa. Never had any help from the ips folk ever. The 'breakfast club' early preppers were supposed to be made superfluous by this but they still get brought in just not as often. Aim: to cut o/t and ensure we all get out at the same time. Result: utter fail. unless the aim was to set everyone at each other's throats.

If you started cutting off instead, you'd find all of a sudden they wouldn't give you so much indoor work. While ever people are willing to complete, RM will keep piling work on you as they're more than happy to pay the OT instead of actually staffing properly.

They are happy to pay extended! I don't go over either leave lapseor cut off fairly simple but some don't have the balls im afraid.
