Transferring to another office

Hi what's the procedure to move offices?
The one I work at is 13 miles from my house and recently there's been changes to finish times and having trouble getting back for childcare.
The office id like to move to is a few minutes walk from my house.

IS it true I must apply online and lost my contract hours??

yes you have to apply online and yes you can only take on the contract being offered at that DO.

However, you are almost guaranteed to get the position if you want it and are not on a stage warning etc.

I was under the impression you only apply online ONLY if there is a vacancy online (via Success factors /indeed jobs),but if there isn't then you could get a transfer via both managers (your office and the office you want to transfer to). I'm not sure there is a way to apply online is there unless there is actually a position advertised. Also if the new position is more hours then you can get more hours this way. A lad at our office transfered 2 years ago via manager contact but it took months for it to go through but if a job comes up online then HR deals with this and the transfer has to be completed within 28 days of being accepted.
