Part Timers Camping outside DOMs office

Part timers in my office has started camping outside the DOMS office like the boxing day sales waiting for the phone to ring so they can find out who has knocked it so they run to the frames and sticker it up with killing off stickers to get the rows on overtime. The most of them don't start till 8 30am but come into two hours early just to get the best picks, sometimes they go home empty handed. I have never seen anything like this in all my time in RM. Does this happen in your office?

Pathetic. It'll be like a dole queue outside offices soon with only a select few getting any work.

What does 'Knocked it' mean? Rang in sick?

Why do they stick kill off stickers on the frame?

Doesn't happen in my office. There are only two people who want overtime.

Most of the time the manager rings around trying to get people to come in and they don't answer.

That sounds like quite a bizarre and hilarious site to behold, I actually wish that did happen in my office.... I could do with a laugh most mornings.

If you want to do overtime in our office you put your name on the list the previous week and they work down the list each day starting from where they reached on the list the previous day, that way it tends to get allocated reasonably fairly. This is done by the book room guy or union rep, no management involved.

I needed overtime but since i have been made up to 35 hours they can stick it

never worked overtime since late 2012 (i was part-time then), now full-time they don't even bother asking me i always so no

That sounds a bit too organised to me.

And surely that a fairer way of allocating overtime? What about those guys who have spent all that time creeping around the DOM, surely they should be given first pick?

Love it when you get a new DOM and all the Ass Lickers have to start all over again.... it's a joy to watch.
