How to deselect a unit rep

Hi all our unit rep has agreed attendance time changes without consulting the workforce or holding a meeting and consultation,this is the last straw he did the same with the nightshift.He has never been elected the last one who stood against him went off with stress,him and four other reps drink down the same boozer ,intimidation is rife.Quite a few have left the union because of this.Is there a telephone no or anything we can do we have I think 3 years of this.Self interest ls their game.We have a AGM meeting soon can we deselect him there if so how,I'll stand against him if need be.

First you need to contact your Branch to find out what the correct procedure is for your area but it will be something like this...

You need to sign a motion of no confidence in the rep. This needs to be done properly by at least 50% of the members of the union. Name, pay number and union number all clearly written or your Branch will ignore it. It probably helps to send a copy to Wimbledon as well so it can't be easily ignored. Don't let any non union members sign it. Those that have left the union now won't have any say.
The rep will have a right to reply. A meeting will be called. The time and place will be at the choosing of your Branch. Your colleagues had better be prepared to inconvenience themselves as it is at this meeting a second vote of no confidence will take place. You will need at least 50% of your members at this meeting. (It will probably be in some god forsaken backwater while the football is on)

Of course any decent rep would stand down if 50% of his members passed a vote of no confidence in him, but some of them are quite thick skinned......

If the Rep was regarded as decent there wouldn't be a problem.
If they were decent, they would have carried out their role in a better manner than the OP describes.

I think that you would need 50% or 75% not sure exactly, of the initial 50% that signed the petition to attend the meeting. Not 50% of the whole membership.

But even then you can't force them to resign especially if they were elected by vote. It's gotta be something very very serious for HQ to get out the CWU rule book.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
