As Christmas approaches, we’ll be accepting more parcels at our enquiry offices.

There are certain goods and substances that we cannot accept into our postal network, so it’s vital that we ask customers to confirm their parcels contain no banned items.

This is to comply with Dangerous Goods legislation. Dangerous Goods are items which pose a risk to health, safety, property or to the environment when transported.

These can range from the highly dangerous, such as explosives, flammables and fuming acids, to everyday products such as paints, solvents and pesticides.

For the purpose of keeping our people, our customers and the general public safe, we must comply with Dangerous Goods legislation when selling and accepting mail. All carriers of mail, including Royal Mail must comply with these regulations.

It is important to follow the correct process. All enquiry office colleagues and managers need to complete the prohibited and restricted goods training.
