Big Problem at Royal Mail/union

Hiya lads and lasses,
been at royal mail now 6 years feels much longer, and always worked full time 60 -70 hours per week on average if no more, and still on a 30 hour contract, 1000 hours per month gets booked within my office
when asked about a contract increase we get told were an underperforming office, not asking a lot for a 5 hour contract increase.
HAS THE UNION LOST ITS BALLS???
IN THE AGRREMENT THAT WE AGREED.... IT STATED.... HOURS REVIEWED EVERY 6 MONTHS, HAVE WE A UNION LEFT ANYMORE?? WHATS THE POINT IN UNDER TAKING AN AGREEMENT IF YOU CANT UPHOLD IT???
DONT GET ME WRONG I WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST UNION FANS UP TO THIS 6TH YEAR AND ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,
WHATS HAPPENING???? IF THE UNION CANT HOLD THIS AGREEMENT UP WHEN ITS IN BLACK AND WHITE WE HAVE NO CHANCES OF THE CHANGES COMMING

AND FOR THE RECORD THE NORTH WEST SCOUSER FROM THE CWU CAME FOR A MEETING AT OUR LOCAL UNION MEETING TO DISCUSS THE CHANGES COMMING , ANDTOLD ME THIS WOULD BE CHANGING SIX MONTHS AGO. LOVE THIS JOB BUT I MUST ADMIT ITS NOT A NICE FEELING EVERY WEEK THINKING IF YOUR GOING TO BE ON A BASIC 30 HOURS AND I FEEL FOR THE LADS ALSO ON 24

sorry for "being daft" but you took on a job at 30hrs p/w, if i couldn't live on my minimum 34hrs i'd be looking elsewhere.
with the amount you do i'm guessing all you are down is a few pounds in share/dividend money, and you are losing is around £50 p/w when on holiday,
though i'd wager you probably work some of those days too

I can live on my basic wage like every other 24 hour staff and 30 hour staff but its not exactly a comfortable life and I think the lads doing the hours deserve abit of stability in there lifes with a contract not part time,
and as I stated when the union came to us with the deal and we all agreed to it, it STATED HOURS WORKED TO BE REVIEWED EVERY SIX MONTHS THAT IS THE DEAL AND THAT IS WHAT WE SIGNED FOR

Unless you are high in the part time seniority at your depot, if six monthly reviews were/are taking place, you will not get offered the better part time contract first. The hours go to the duty, the most senior OPGs get first refusal of them, even if you have been doing that same duty for six years.

that i can agree with though this has been going on for years, i'd try a rep from higher above but you'll probably not get anywhere either but short of of an self overtime ban it'll take some changing

Sounds like this is happening up & down the country & it stinks. Im in the same boat wiv plenty of others in my office, all of us on 25 hr contracts doing 40-55 hours a week, every week. Been to rep & area rep & just get fobbed off & nothing changes. The agreement clearly means jack sh*t.
Time the union got a grip of this situation cos if they dont do summat soon, there'll b a lot of members dropping out in the coming weeks & months

We've had enough of been treated like a 2nd class workforce. They've taken advantage of the situation for 2 long now & are ckearly abusing the agreement. It doesn't make for a happy workforce when ur not valued and are getting taken for granted

You are an underperforming office because of the amount of overtime being booked probably, RM don't want anybody doing any really, they just want everyone to work their hours, that includes the people who still manage to finish hours early, yes there are some, even in my office.

60-70 hours a week.....

and I'm lucky to get any o/t and I've been f/t for nearly 30 years . You'd soon be complaining if you had a contract for 35 hours and offered No o/t

Well said, if these people stoped doing the o/t for just one week, the company would soon be giving upped hours.
