Credit Union/HR powers

Post by Southernmrsofty »

Hi.

I have 3 credit union loans coming from my pay,Things were fine but now my wage is the only wage coming in due to the firm my wife worked for going bust.

I have rang HR and they wont lower the payments,The credit unions are unbelievably unhelpfull.

Commsave - £110 per week. 1 year left.

1st class credit union £40 per week.2 years left.

Penny post £40 per week.3 years left.

Im paying out £190 from my wages weekly and its leaving us short big time,Now behind with council and an attatchment of earnings granted,Another £41 coming out next week.

So total pulled from pay £231 per week.

Im left with £100 per week in my bank.

We are surviving on savings and they are being eaten away and soon will be gone.

Its causing big problems with other bills and soon i can see us going under.

2 kids,Mortgage,gas,electric,water,food,petrol.

How do i get these credit unions to lower the amount to give us an amount to live on? If they extended the loans to reduce the payments to 1/3rd it would help but they wont.

Should i enter into an IVA?

I dont have any issues paying what i owe but some help at this hard time is needed.

Was wondering, can HR refuse to cancel a payment or payments from my wages that I want cancelled?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

You have a mortgage? So sell your house and rent privately. Use any profit from the sale to pay off your debts.

Incredibly stupid post.

-------------

Rent, council tax, food etc are all priority payments which must be paid before non priority debts such as unsecured loans etc. Please contact a great company called "step change".

Yes there is help out there and it's easy to get on minimum payment terms with most companies, but the thing here is do HR really have the right to refuse to stop payments from our wages which is the case here.

The 3 credit unions are outside RM's remit as well.

Everything else would fall into place if HR played ball.

Hi, I cant speak for the other 2 CU's but if you contact us at Commsave, and explain that you are having some financial difficulties, they will send you out a budget planner to complete. From that information they may be able to reduce your payments to a more affordable level for you. I will send you a private message with the contact information you need and how we can look at a resolution for you.
