I have just been off for 7 months with bowel cancer. I am due back to work on a phased return on 18th April.
You are covered by the Equality Act, as cancer is classed as a disability.
A lot of people on here have said that OHAssist have been less than helpful, but in my experience they have been extremely helpful, so it might be a good idea to ask your manager for a referral.
I know what you're going through and wish you all the very best mate.

Progressive conditions
A progressive condition is one that gets worse over time. People with progressive conditions can be classed as disabled.

However, you automatically meet the disability definition under the Equality Act 2010 from the day you’re diagnosed with HIV infection, cancer or multiple sclerosis.
If a stage 3 is triggered it will be best handled by an Area Safety Rep as they will have had the appropriate training, and with your other conditions it could be very complicated, all the other absences and the reasons for them will need to be looked at, and while some will be discounted, it's possible not all will be. AFAIK only absences caused by conditions that are covered by the Equality Act are discounted, and only if the manager could be reasonably expected to know you were covered by it. In other words, you have to tell the manager about your condition/s for him to able to discount them and allow him to follow the correct procedure.
