PDA Freezing Up

Anyone had issues with their PDA Freezing Up whilst on delivery.

If so or does anyone know if this can affect the record of when u scan something for example what time you scanned an item.

Management are saying they dont lie regardless, and once they start working again, the time you scanned something will still be recorded correctly.

Always freezing up. Mine did it twice today actually.

If you have scanned something and it is still showing in the top left corner then it will still show up as the time it scanned not the time it goes through.

Mine freezes nearly every other day. Not had any issues regarding times. As I understand it, the data bundle it saves when you complete the scanning process includes a date-time stamp and GPS location neither of these are changed when you re-boot. Although I would recommend a soft reboot only as, though quicker, removal of the battery (known as a hard reset) can cause data loss.

the pda,s are shite. For a large well known company some of the gear they give us to do the job really is total pony.

Had to take battery out this morning as it freezes regular, no failures yet these pda 's are a joke

Always always freezing up, quite often have to take the battery out. I don't think I've ever had anything not go through, but whenever it has frozen while I'm scanning something or getting a signature or while it's sending an event, then I mention it to the folk in the locker so that they know I did deliver the item

Appears to be down to individual PDAs. I use several, some are great and some are crap. We have quite a lot of Comms problems and the PDA just stores up all the scans. We just Reboot as we approach the Office, allowing enough time, and then log off. Which seems to do the trick. For some strange reason some PDAs won't send their scans until you put it in the cradle and select "Indoor" on the menu!

According to one of my previous DOMs the PDAs do not freeze and he was prepared to go down the disciplinary route with anyone who used that as an excuse for failing an item.

And Saturday appears to be a problem day more than any other day it seems with the big freeze. All was well on Monday. We shall see

If that's the case if you have a phone capable of videoing when it freezes again you can record proof of the problem and then when you get back to the office you can accept the apologies off your DIM.

If it has scanned, there is a number in the middle on the top that will display a 1 and then go to 0 or tick up for every scan you make. Make a note of what's there (either a 0 or total number scanned) before you scan and check it goes up by 1.
