Pensions has been decoupled from the Pay and Modernisation Agreement and given that it is a group-wide issue, will now be subject to a separate National Briefing and separate communications. Details of the Pensions Briefing will be sent out in due course.



That was in the corespondence from the CWU the facts of the matter are if you vote YES will be voting for the new Pension as they are part of the package (and that's straight from the horses mouth).

Recently had a WTL where a very condensed version of the deal was read out and the Pension deal was there, and this is a briefing written by a senior manager. End of the final salary, work to your 65 take it at 60 and lose money. Dose not look like it's been decoupled from the deal to me

uh yeah they are decoupled - one is on one piece of paper, the other is on another piece of paper, and they both have to be agreed now at the same time or RM will agree neither. So uh no they aren't decoupled.

This shows where cowardice gets you - WArd and Hayes bottle it after the court ban, and RM just keeps upping its demands. Doesn't bode well for those joint working groups on covering each other and D2D does it? :cfo :lfo

RM have agreed to consult on the new pension arrangement; they have not agreed to negotiate - a big big difference.

Consult will mean RM taking to us about they are going to do - we will have no veto.

Negotiate would have given us the chance to reach an agreement and vetoed any unwelcome changes.

I seem to remember we were consulted about the later starts and didnt that work out well!

Course it did - don't you remember? - the agreement clearly states that all executive action taken after 24/10/07 will now be negotiated - course it was a bit late - deliveries went later on the 10th and the Network on the 22nd. Horse and bolted spring to mind.

Phoned pension help line and they said that there would be a consultation period and that all our comments and views would be taken into consideration before a decision is made. So if we all say no change then the pension scheme will stay the same. Yeah and watch out for that pig flying over. We've been stuffed with this deal and we are stuffed with our pensions. :cfo :lfo

The plans that were drawn up by RM for the pension and due to be sent out last july to 170,000 odd rm workers are poised and waiting to go as soon as the required legal 60 days is up.
