Hours cut

Post by franco1 »

I'm on a 30hr week 9day fortnight pt contract.
Been coming 1hr early overtime everyday and prepping frame from scratch.
Today got told I would have to start coming in at my official time and frame would be prepped.
So I'm losing 5hrs per week overtime.
If it is only myself who has had these hours cut is there anything I can do grievance wise?

No you are not entitled to o/t. If you are only required to work your contracted hours that's all they have to give you.
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

It would depend on who else is still getting overtime and how overtime is allocated in your office.

Maybe it's just the post Christmas/January money saving strategy kicking in. In an effort to try and save some money and achieve their end of year bonus DOM puts all p/t staff back to working their correct hours. Give it a few weeks and they will realize they can't cope without you and ask you to come in early again, happens at our place every year.
We're all here because we're not all there

this is where the union misses a trick, if some folk are been now told their early overtime isn't required anymore even though the elite few are still in very early, they should advise ALL its members not to do any overtime at all, it will never happen though because most just see the ££ signs :arrrghhh

Have asked other part-timers if there hours been cut and they have been. Also full-timers coming early has stopped.
Obviously a couple of "Elite" still manage to claim whatever they please at the expense of everyone else....

You could always push for aggregate o/t sheets to be published, so all those that want o/t get a fair crack at the whip.
