Broken ankle and tibia

What's the situation regarding slipping on a frosty drive/road breaking my tibia and ankle in two places.Rang manager and he came down and took photos of the soles off my shoes and the driver/road before taking me to hospital.The pain killing me.I am 54 and it's a 15 miler everyday could be the finish of my duty.

ask to be referred to oh assist as soon as possible, if done now then may get less hassle from them a bit further down line, if first contact with them is when it's still broken then they are not going to try to get you back on light duties on that call but if first contact was say in a month or so then that may be a possible discussion they might try to have, talking to them now means less need to talk to them for about 2 months with your sort of injury,

RM are going to investigate the accident, your manager may ask you in to help fill out ERICA in the next day or so, you can do it over the phone, again get it out of the road will save him hassling you over it. If you slipped on a frosty drive there will be a strong possibility rm will find you partly responsible for the accident don't worry too much if they do it won't really affect you unless you have accidents like it all the time and are at fault,

next get onto the union for any assistance they can give, you probably have a claim for compensation from the drive owner, they will help you get in touch with union solicitors who will give you more advice on the matter

lastly don't rush back to work go back when your doc thinks you are ready, you don't get any prizes from Royal mail for coming back early no matter how big a favour they make out it is to you
