Tracked items: No purple stickers any more?

I've heard that our depot is about to stop adding the purple stickers that clearly identify "Tracked" items out on delivery.

For as long as I can remember, we have always have certain OPGs scanning all these items into the depot, placing a sticker them and then wheeling them round to the relevant delivery section in yorks for sorting.

As a depot, we are not currently scanning every parcel on delivery.

Is this an acceptable/agreed reduction in indoor work?

Given how we don't have to scan every parcel yet, I dread to think how many Tracked items will not be identified and are then "failing" through the lack of a PDA scan on delivery.

RM are probably phasing them purple stickers out, besides it only takes a couple of seconds to look at the postmark to see if it's a Tracked item. It's no different from SD items that don't have the blue/silver or red/silver labels

Except on deliveries Specials are seperated from all other mail, or at least should be. Wheras tracked once scanned for delivery don't need to be.

You write wasted, but it makes a premium product easily identifiable, just like orange/red stickers for Recorded Sign Fors and silver stickers for Special Delivery items.

It could be argued by some that manually scanning every Tracked and Special Delivery item arriving at a depot is a waste of time, when they could be automatically scanned using technology similar to what is used for "test letters."

It could be argued that once every parcel is being labelled with an identifier code, that manually sorting parcels in depots is a waste of time, when we should be using technology to auto-sort parcels down to walk level at the processing centre.

etc. etc.

It's the start of a very slippery slope, reducing indoor workload, resulting in either reduced hourly contracts or outdoor delivery spans that will leave us crippled within 10 years of being OPGs.

I really wish people would stop going on about oh we have to protect indoor hours ect. The amount of packets and large parcels I.e microwave ovens, hoovers!! Ect there's more than enough work there to keep busy. Bringing back 2 deliveries would allow for a break and stop people moaning about being on the street for 4hours and more.

If it's so easy why do the bods in the mailcentre keep missing them and chucking them in standard packet Yorks?

Whoever is scanning in the tracked items at our DO also puts the purple stickers on any tracked items that don't already have one.
When we are running low we order some more - not exactly rocket science is it?
Or are we no longer able to order them?

We haven't had stickers for years. Once we scan them ready for delivery we use coloured magic markers and mark an S on address labels labels to show they have been scanned indoors. Works very well as easily identified

Time for an S? Wow you must have loads of indoor time to spare. Here it's a line strike anywhere on the packet with one of those blue crayons used for kill-offs. Not seen a tracked sticker for a very long time, since they brought in the square ones I think.

Because Fish, management simply s**t themselves when the Tracked traffic is busy and it doesn't need to be
that busy in our MC for management to press the panic button and it's then a case of "get it out the door as quick
as you can" but then again it's the same in every section wether it's flats ,letters or packets even when there is only
a little increase in traffic levels.
