FIXED DAY OFF

worked for royal mail for 38 years, last few years have had Saturday
as a fixed day off, manager took me in office today and said that due
to having to make savings I have to go back on a rotating day off and
will get one Saturday of every 5 weeks, a couple of his pals who also
have a fixed day of will keep them due to child care just wondered if
he can do this thanks for any replies and happy new year everybody.

Yes he can, though there are ways to try and fight it, firstly if unhappy about the proposed changed then get rep to put in a stage 1 disagreement over it and follow the ir process through

as for some keeping the fixed days off for child care issues you don't have a case to fight that.

Unless the favoritism is blatant, and even then it would be a hard job to prove it.

thanks for the answers will accept it hopefully voluntary redundancy
might be back on next year and I can get out have enjoyed most of
my 38 years until now morale as gone never known so many unhappy
posties, its an horrible company to work for now and the union does
nothing. glyn.

Check out what Dingo has posted in the longer deliveries or less Full Timers, it would seem to suggest that EVR will be on for the next 5 years - lets hope MTSF lasts that long as well.
