Clearing a Stage One Warning?
Hi, I was wondering if anybody could clarify this for me, as the newer agreement isn't really that clear? Do you have to go a full 6 months with *no* single absence, to be completely removed from the process? The new agreement documentation only really provides information as to when a Stage 2 will be issued, as opposed to how to remove yourself from the process completely.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Clearing a Stage One Warning?
1 absence of 4 days or less in the following 6 months. The question is when does the 6 months start?
From your last absence?
From the day you were issued with the warning?
you will need to agree that the warning (if issued) is backdated to the last day of your absence. There is a real reluctance to do this from (some) management but you really must pursue this. My own personal experiance is that one review meeting decision was given over 14 weeks after the idividual had returned to work.

Usually it is from the issue of the warning as some go on the sick again before the warning so that would trip them up before the warning is issued it should have all the absences detailed on it so you could not be issued in lew of absence before the warning was issued. So if you do not go on the sick for more than 1 occasion of less than 4 days you should come off the procedure within six months of the date of issuing of the warning if that helps.

Very helpful. Thanks to you both.k979aaa wrote:Usually it is from the issue of the warning as some go on the sick again before the warning so that would trip them up before the warning is issued it should have all the absences detailed on it so you could not be issued in lew of absence before the warning was issued. I'm not looking to go sick but have an upcoming operation, so am planning ahead. I have a letter with a date of my stage interview, and the copy of what was recorded during the interview, but can't find the sheet that tells me the actual date the stage was issued, if I was indeed provided with said paperwork.

You could always contact wages as they will have your attendance on the PSP system and that has the issue dates of the warnings.LouBarlow wrote:Very helpful. Re: Clearing a Stage One Warning?
I was off with knee problems just before last Christmas triggering a stage 1 and I still haven't had an interview to tell me I've got a stage 1 yet.bogstandard wrote:1 absence of 4 days or less in the following 6 months. The question is when does the 6 months start?

Well if you go sick make sure it is noted in the issued warning before you sign it.DB1100 wrote:I was off with knee problems just before last Christmas triggering a stage 1 and I still haven't had an interview to tell me I've got a stage 1 yet.bogstandard wrote:1 absence of 4 days or less in the following 6 months. Re: Clearing a Stage One Warning?
you can put a grievance in on an issued first stage warning . Years ago my wife was issued a first stage warning when some of the abscences were due to fertility treatment. We put a grievance in and the issued warning had to be wiped clean.

Re: Clearing a Stage One Warning?
It has to be from the day you returned from sickness and not from the date of issue. There is usually a delay in the stage warning meeting being arranged. Any other absence after a stage warning notification is counted towards that same stage warning if it's not been issued yet. So example if you trigger a stage 1 and then go sick for another 10 days before the meeting can take place it dosent revert to stage 2, it all counts as stage 1. Dont let managers palm you off and issue a stage from the meeting date when they should backdate it

Re: Clearing a Stage One Warning?
I have a question on the Stage 1 process-
Let's say as an example you are off 3 times in January and go onto Stage 1 warning at the end of January.
So if you make it to the end of JULY (6months later) without being off again you will be removed from Stage 1 but if you are then off again in August will you immediately go back onto Stage 1 as that is your 4th absence in a 12month period?
So essentially, does the '12month period' start again from the date you are removed from Stage 1??
