Missed hours due to floods

Hello, I missed work on Saturday because of the weather (severe flooding). I was told that because I was paid for Saturday that I would have to make up the lost hours. Is this correct? and if yes, can anyone provide me with the document that states this 'rule'. Many thanks in advance.

You don't have to make up the hours, though conversely royal mail don't need to pay you for them either and can count the absence on the attendance procedure

more than likely they will take a day off your annual leave not your fault weather is so bad but hey ho we work for rm

This happened to me a couple of years ago, they took it off my annual leave despite the fact I was up early trying to find a route of of the village and nearly got stranded!

They should give you a choice of no pay, or take it off your annual leave, or maybe work your day off next week in lieu of it.

Thanks all. It's December so I'm already working every day! But I was asked to work extra hours on Monday. I didn't know my options so I agreed - and admittedly we did successfully clear our backlog of mail in one day. But you're right, it's not worth taking crazy risks to try and get to work in severe weather. Lesson learnt.
