Hi guys been a posti for over 13 years now, work in a little sub office and have never had any issues. Now one of my colleges got moved from his office because of problems not yet fully known so has been with us for a few years now, but we have had so many customers complaining about him being rude, threatening behaviour and throwing mail and people etc and 1 customer has put over 5 complaints resulting in his not being aloud on their property so someone else had to deliver but still kept his round. The managers seem to be brushing it all under the carpet as he pretty much does over time here their and everywhere and so much he has been known to deliver past 8pm bad I know but does happen.
Now the other morning he bought the second lot of our mail in so we were unloading the van the trays were all over the place, but we got on with it, not happy but hey ho, for some reason out of the blue he came storming in with some mail I was waiting to go get some more he barged right in to me got right in my face and I mean his nose was touching me and shouting cu*t, and lots of foul language etc... So straight I walked out phoned a manager as the look in the guys eyes was very threatening have no idea what I did??? Some of the lads said he was pissed of because he had to share some overtime with me and he thinks he should have it all as he always does. But the manager moved him out to a different office pending further investigation, so the manager said he would interview all the people that saw as they were all on my side and could not not believe what happened, well that was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. So last week I went to the mail centre to collect the mail and the guy that has the issue with me was that he walked passed me shouting tosser then got in his van and drove right next to me and starting abusing and calling me little girl for telling on him etc... So called a manager and he said he will go find him and have a word as he obviously does not wanna keep his job!!! Then I get a call and he said did any one witness it I told him their were some people in the yard but I do t know them and also check the cctv as you will clearly see him drive up in his van.
Now the reason I'm writing this as as of Saturday our office is pretty scrawled at the mo about 3 rounds to cover out of 6 and I'm afraid that they will ask him to do overtime in my office.
Where do I stand, what can I do as manager does not seem to be taking it seriously, only worries about covering rounds. I feel for my safety, also my job, if he was to do it again and I did anything then that's my job gone it's not fair and it's put such a downer on me also effecting me at home.
Sorry for the long story but just need some sort of guidance as never had this ever.

Re: Threatening behaviour
I very much doubt that they will ask him to come back on cover if there is an on going complaint about him and he has already been moved out because of it. If they do bring him back you have every right to refuse to work with him. Are the union involved? What do they say?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Re: Threatening behaviour
You've done everything correctly, all you can do now is let the wheels of justice move.
Now here is the weird thing, if you are unsatisfied by the outcome you should be able to raise a grievance, but you shouldn't actually be told "officially" what action is taken against him. So your best option IMHO is to keep doing as you are, and if he does show up to do overtime bang in a grievance, or even contact a manager and advise them you feel unsafe and the reasons why.

Yep, if I were in your position then I would have no doubt what I would do. If that guy walks in the door then I'm walking out of it. No conversation or discussion with him required.

Re: Threatening behaviour
DO THIS. After telling your manager that he needs to be removed if that doesn't happen immediately walk out the door citing your own safety as a reason and stress. Then go see your GP same day or next and tell him/her you need time off for stress. If this is effecting your homelife this is serious and you would be well advised to take time off if this situation escalates.wannabeek wrote:Yep, if I were in your position then I would have no doubt what I would do. Having said that DON'T WORRY about him turning up it is very unlikely to happen - if it does simply go home.

Based on the second paragraph you should pursue the B an H procedure.gman2050uk wrote:Hi guys been a posti for over 13 years now, work in a little sub office and have never had any issues.
