trackers in vans

union rep had email today saying that 13 vans in office were going to have trackers fitted. we won't know which vans. they will record speed, braking etc. conduct code was mentioned for improper driving. if this is a trial can conduct code be used , or should it be for when all vans are fitted.

some employees may view the use of company vehicle tracking systems as ‘corporate spying’ or an infringement of their civil liberties. As far as company vehicle tracking and the law is concerned, the use of such systems is perfectly legal as long as they are used transparently (i.e. with the employee’s knowledge) and with the employee’s consent.

Only one person is suposed to drive the van in your pair. If the passenger drives and has an accident/ incident heor she can be conducted.

One of our Peugeots had one fitted this week , fully expecting the rest to be done .

This could also be used to see where there are gaps in the working day to be filled with extra work, the runners and early starters will find themselves given extra work, if you do you duty to spec and this is recorded on the trackers they can't really do anything to you, in fact if you find workload to be excessive and cannot be done, the tracker can record this and be used to reduce it, in my experience they are slow to take work off you and is suspiciously quick to add it to your duty, you would have to stand your ground on that one.
