Time off for an interview
I have been invited to interview for the police. My manager said I can't have time off for the interview. Is this right? Can't find any policies that may help me.

Unfortunately he is correct you can only ask for the leave and it is down to his discretion unfortunately
couple of other options would be swapping your day off with a colleague or asking to break off from round to attend and then complete round after interview

Also, just telephone the Police recruitment and explain that you have been honest with your employer rather than lie or pull a sickie and ask them to re sched on one of your free days or an early finish..If you are so blessed to have one.
