Car damaged in Royal Mail car park while I was working
Sorry, not sure where to ask this. I've just driven home from work (I'm on loan at another office) and as I did noticed someone had hit my wing mirror. It isn't damaged too badly, but the electronics have now bust and it can't be readjusted any other way. I'm going to speak to one of the managers tomorrow, just wondering if anyone knows where I stand on this or if there is any chance RM will repair the damage seeing as it was caused by one of their staff members, on their property?
Cheers

by any chance is the outcome going to be - the manager says they'll look into it, nothing ever actually happens and it just gets swept under the carpet?spen wrote:I don't know the answer,,, but could take good guess at the outcome

Sorry but Royal Mail car parks are private property and there will be usually a sign stating that people parking there do so at their own risk. I doubt the manager will even look into it.

Correct. More especially so if there is a notice stating it.marcwilson87 wrote:No liability even for staff?

This won't help this issue, but if you are working at another DO, then I would be insisting that they got you there and back within duty time as per agreement, also if you've been using your own car have you been paid expenses?

Also your car insurance might not cover you as I think it would be classed as business use if driving from your own office to anothertrythat wrote:This won't help this issue, but if you are working at another DO, then I would be insisting that they got you there and back within duty time as per agreement, also if you've been using your own car have you been paid expenses?

if you are lucky there may be CCTV covering that area which, in my experiance, they will let you have a look at.
Other than than the answer is as you have seen before "owners park at their own risk"

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Not even worth mentioning unless you know who did the damage

Does that apply to damage to a person too or just property? What if a RM van drives over your leg?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Sorry but Royal Mail car parks are private property and there will be usually a sign stating that people parking there do so at their own risk.
