sabbatical leave, Gap year leave

Not sure what the exact name for it is, but does Royal mail offer an extended period off work, say 6 months? without pay of course.

Thinking of going traveling and alot of my mates have dont it, their employers let them leave unpaid but they still had their job when they came back. I cant see why a big national company like RM wouldnt do it, the mates employers are of all sizes and stature

Yes they do still offer a career break, but it's the usual farce trying to actually arrange it, when I applied for one it took months of chasing the various different people up... DOM, Area Manager, HR etc before I eventually got it sorted.

Plus you've got no cast iron guarantee that you will actually have a job to come back to... it just says RM will ''do their best to re-accommodate you at your old unit''
