what is the agreement of moving into a full time position from being part time?

i'm in a position where i have taken a full time position as a PHG/locker worker from a part time post person, but only get paid on overtime when in work, so i have the same 30 hour contract and loose 2 hours pay a day when not in for any reason at all i.e sick,leave,rest week, public holidays etc
I have no idea i am being treated this way other than to save money?

You are not alone. Thousands are being treated in the same way. RM want everyone part time eventually and I expect when the 5 year privatisation deal has finished where all current employment contracts had to be honoured, then we will all turn up one day to be greeted with part time contracts.

Ask your union rep local or area whoever is better, to get you a new 39 hr contract. Too many are asked to do full time hrs on part time contracts. If you applied and was awarded the full time duty, then you obviously need a full time contract. if you don't get one just work your contract hrs. See how the locker runs then.

This cannot be allowed to happen. They are getting zero hrs contract out of you for a third of the locker jobs hrs. IT'S NOT RIGHT.

they have also turfed me out of the job and pick up the last 2 hours of the day in the locker on overtime due to any problems they face regarding staff unable to do there walk for whatever reason. i haven't done a full week in the callers office in months due to someone working right threw there pregnancy to the very last, so i end up on duties ive never done before while someone else does my job.

ive taken this duty in the locker twice now, the first time i was given the job on application when the person i replaced retired, the second time i chose to stay in the locker in a re-sign as my duty wasnt effected so i could stay where i was if i wanted to.

so a year and a half down the road ive just had enough, nothing is gonna change if i dont speak up about it, all thats happening is im being a reserve to duties i havent done before while picking up the last 2 hours in the locker when my job is the 2nd phg 8-4 everyday.
