When is old too old for a GS?

So the incumbent Hayes is over the hill at 61 for which he has been subjected to much abuse. The contender Ward is 56 so in 5 years time guess what - he'll be 61 and presumably over the hill and presumably subject to the same level of abuse by those who are currently abusing the geriatric Mr Hayes. Strange how they've kept quiet about the "change" candidates age. .

Wrong again Billy is 62 and will Billy 63 shortly after the election. Dave is 55 !! This election won't be about age it will come down to who the members believe can lead this union the best ! I think the membership will decide that is Dave you believe it will be Billy !

I think the point he is making dingo is that using a negative tactic like questioning someone's ability based on age is hardly relevant when one is 62 and the other 55. Neither is in the first flush of youth and to be honest if the union doesn't start sorting itself out and engaging younger members and activists we'll need to use SAGA to organise conference anyway, preferably somewhere with stair lifts, plenty of incontinence pants and those electric chairs that sit you upright so you don't choke on your own drool.

given the circles that some move in and the rest of us low life scum don't it's hardly surprising that they offer opinion on the membership when people polarise.
Surely the only solid gold guarantee is what you will do and not how others would vote, or for that matter if they even bother.
With that in mind i'm going for a 40% or less turnout. If one gets 21% and the other 19% of those who bother it's hardly a resounding sucess or endorsement of the membership more 79% didn't vote for you, as opposed to 81% who didn't vote for the other. So given the above scenario what would either do to capture the disenfranchised, i'm guessing eff all.

As a matter of fact I haven't yet decided who I'll vote for. A task made difficult by the similarities between the candidates especially their length of service in the bureaucracy of the CWU. Despite their claims neither has done much to change anything. Although I note Dave is going to "review" said machinery. The age factor is clearly important for continuity of leadership and the long term future of the union.
