City Link van abandoned at playing fields since company collapsed

A CITY Link van has seemingly been abandoned at a playing field ever since the company went into administration.
It is believed the green and yellow van has been sitting in the car park at Manadon playing fields since the delivery company folded and made 55 Plymouth employees redundant.
A spokesperson for the company’s administrators, Ernst and Young, told The Herald that most of the vans were leased from a number of providers, not City Link directly.
“The vast majority of City Link Limited vans were leased from a number of providers,” said the spokesperson.
“The administrators are working with these leasing providers to return vehicles.
“In cases where sub-contractors were sub-leasing vehicles from City Link, the administrators are working with the leasing providers concerned to enable them to make arrangements to collect vehicles from sub-contractors.”
Coventry-based City Link called in administrators on Christmas Eve after years of “substantial losses”.
Staff learned on Christmas Day that the company had gone into administration, in a move described as “disgraceful” by the union for transport workers.
More than 2,000 staff from the delivery firm – including 55 in Plymouth – were made redundant on New Year’s Eve.
