Same in our DO. Senior staff delivery should finish 1400 hrs , seen going home 1200 or around .. in front of line managers..no question asked ..and plenty of stuff left in DO to be delivered ...but management do not want to upset senior staff most of them are union leaders.

Only the runners finish early at ours. Now and again the area manager is hanging about to send them back out with mail, but not often enough to deter them. The senior guys get shat on like everyone else.

Rife in my office too.
Finishing early, and they get paid ghost overtime.
And the same ones got all the help at Xmas, so they could continue finishing early.

But why is it allowed to happen? Its favouritism, treating others differently, and bad management practise. Perhaps a grievance would sort things out?

Happens in our office all the time, bloke on Saturday came in an hour early, booked an hours docket and went home 2 and a half hours before his time.

our office has just had a revision and we still have runners finishing early. half hour or so.but only by coming in early and working straight through.some offices must have some easy duties still.its the youngsters that finish first in our office,us senior staff limp back much later.

Yeah, we have 6 hour SAs on a Saturday, the guys come in at 5, job complete and home in bed by 8.30.

I have raised a complaint with the DOM, nothing, next it'll be going to the DSM, Moya and if I don't get a positive response at this level, I'll go to the European Court of Rights, I'm sick of this Mafia style management.

My colleagues have got wind of me complaining, DOM told Lino, Lino told the boys, I'm getting the silent treatment, do I care? No. I'm going to dob on all the malpractice that is going on, I've never seen favouritism, nepotism, bullying, victimisation and discrimination on this scale, totally corrupt..............

Ah the casual management bullshit of quietly mentioning it to your `colleagues` so they can join in on the bullying,nothing changes in Royal Fail land ever.

At our place the senior guys can chat and mess around but the DOM says nothing (and they have easier duties of course). If a junior guy does the same they receive a sharp "get on with your work." As for the union rep, he chats all he likes, but will rat on others doing the same. The place is modelled on the Kremlin at the height of the Cold War.

Same at ours. We have a senior guy who NEVER sorts, but just sniffs the gaffers arse all mornining. Over Xmas he took on doing morning collections from other areas as well as his own walk. He stayed on his fitting so he could get his duty finished early so he could go and do the collections on o/t. You couldn't make it up.

at the end of the day some people like to drag the job out , keep customers waiting for mail and finish late often doing unpaid overtime at the end of thier duty
others like to just get on with it ,get the job done and get home
managers often dont bother them because ,these postmen provide an efficent service to the customers ,,keeping them happy
this pleases royal mail and thats what its all about

I'll give you an example of how thick some of these people are. One of my colleagues was running around showing off his wage slip 'look look I got 36 hours docket last week lucky if I worked 12 of them'.

1. This pissed people off.
2. This is fraud committed by the Delivery Officer.
3. This fraud is endorsed by the DOM/Lino.
4. This idiot has 26 years service and should know better.

I rest my case.

Here's another example.

My P&L partner and I often make a bit of time here and there. Not much, but a bit. We go in bang on time, take our full breaks and don't run around, but we are organised and work well together.

Some other pairs have walks no longer than ours but are 3-4 hrs over every week for no apparent reason. (They're not near retirement age either).

It's not all black and white, for every runner working for RM there is a genuinely lazy or useless tw*t who somehow manages to get away with it for decades. The vast majority of us are somewhere in between.

A little explanation here would help, how is claiming time for hours not worked not fraud or illegal if approached correctly. The mantra now is work every hour paid not get two hours pay for every hour worked. If someone finishes before their time there's something amiss because we no longer have job and finish.

I think what they mean is say there is half a walk on overtime and you agree to do it for 3hrs that's what you get paid even if it only takes 2
