willful delay?

Post by raikky »

today i went out on my duty and half way round noticed i was missing a bundel of mail. prob around 13 houses worth. it must of slipped out of the bag into the york. i got back and looked through all the yorks so im assuming a manager or postie spotted it and its been delivered. i tried the find dom in office but all managers had left the building. im scared s**t now that im gonna be accused of wilful delay. i suppose i see it as a careless mistake but but genuine ar the same time. not sure what i should do when i go in tmoz?

Willful delay is knowingly and deliberately delaying mail.
A small bundle falling out of your bag is NOT knowingly and deliberately delaying the mail. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Is a mistake mate. You did all you can to find it, after all. By christ we all f**k up now and again- i know i have in my 30 years. I wouldnt worry too much i doubt it will even be mentioned. Somebody left half a bag of packets by mistake the other day. In all the chaos nobody even noticed

Due to the high volumes of mail at this time of year and equipment used for transporting mail mistakes will occur but this is NOT intentional to delay mail and therefore NOT wilful delay.
Depending on your DOM you may be charged with the lesser charge of UNEXCUSED DELAY TO MAIL as RM DOES recognise that genuine mistakes and misunderstandings do occur and it is not the intention of the Business that such cases should be dealt with under the Conduct Code beyond counselling for the isolated instance.
