Making duties bigger and cutting staff?

Not sure if this is a load of tosh but I heard a couple of people mentioning that our office is going to increasing the walking duty from 4 to 5 hrs,lapsing more and getting rid of staff because they will be condensing duties, all after christmas.!!!
I thought no staff could be axed in this way because of an agreement until 2018 and if and when that will ever happen it will be the temps that go first and then it they will ask for voluntary redundancies first. Basically its not on a last in first out basis!!

Bigger walks can only be Do-able if the staff regularly finish before their scheduled time

we are all facing the wrong way in a parallel universe

The parallel universe being that letters and parcels are in steep decline and have been dwindling for years. And yet, we are all experiencing the opposite - bigger rounds, more D2Ds, more parcels, tracked items on the increase etc etc etc

Talking to someone I know from Wycombe and he said something about this part time thing as well
Not sure what or how this will happen
But it don't sound great ( as if anything ever does )
And then we will have collection staff with nothing to do if deliveries are clearing pillar boxes
Interesting times ahead I feel

Then the IPS gets finished later and you haven't got the time to do a longer delivery span.

The only people who should be worried are those offices still with plenty of spare time (and it's clear there are offices like that just from reading this forum). For most people they're already pretty much worked up and in plenty of cases going over, so there's nothing else RM can add. That's assuming everyone is working at a decent rate, which we know some aren't but that's another argument.
