I'm considering reducing my hours, from full time to 4 days a week if possible, for personnel reasons.
We have no buy back of hours in place as far as I know, in fact we are understaffed.
What would be the pitfalls of doing this? I'm in my mid 40's and have over 25 years service. How would this affect my pension? What if I want to go back to full time at some point? Does it make any difference to seniority? Any reasons that it may be a bad idea?

It's highly likely that you would never get full time again!

In a resign couldn't a senior man of 25 years just pick a full time duty though?
